Adding Google Analytics to Your WordPress Blog
There’s gold in them thar log files!
Log files are the files your web hosting account gathers when visitors come to your self hosted WordPress blog.
If you know WHICH posts are bringing in new visitors – then in theory you can create MORE of those types of posts.
There are three ways to gather this information:
- Your raw log files (can you say “UGH” – you’ll need a software program to analyze this – can you say “expensive”?)
- Your web hosting account’s cpanel (free – but not easy. Presented in a way that you might find confusing. For example – instead of visitors – you’ll see “hits”… which are NOT the same as visitors!)
- Google Analytics (free and user friendly – from your favorite “big brother” demi-god entities at Google.)
